Pray and Go
Did you receive one of our door hangers or a business card? Why did we come and pray for your home or let you know that we will be praying for you? We love our community and, although we may not know the struggles that you might be facing, we serve a mighty and powerful God who does know what you are going through. We pray specifically for the Lord to intercede and help you with whatever obstacles you and your family are experiencing. We pray for blessings and relief for any health and financial struggles, for the protection of each family member in your home and that they will experience the love of God in their lives. Most of all, we pray for your salvation and that you will get involved in a church where you can learn and grow!

There is no greater decision you can make than receiving Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. If you have never asked Him to come into your heart and save you, or you are unsure of your salvation, The Bridge Illustration does a wonderful job of providing steps we can take to have peace with God (StepsToPeace.net). God loves you and has a purpose for your life. The problem is that we are sinners and are separated from a Holy God. The good news is that Jesus provided a way, the only way to God when he died for our sins on the cross. The cross (not good works, religion, philosophy or morality) is the bridge that provides the way to forgiveness and a new relationship with God! He has done everything necessary to provide forgiveness and restore the missing relationship in our lives and offers us the choice to accept it. With it, we have peace, forgiveness, abundant and eternal life! The links above provide additional scripture and information and we ask that you let us know if this has impacted your life!
What is Pray and Go?
Pray and Go is designed to encourage and equip our church body to fulfill the Great Commission of making disciples of all nations (Matt. 28). Ever since the church was founded, meeting for prayer and then going out to witness to their community has been the pattern of the Christian life. Praying for opportunities to share the Gospel, then going to share Christ with others. Praying for one another in the church, and then going to make disciples. Praying for missionaries to spread God’s Word, then going on mission. PRAYING and GOING have always been part of the rhythm of being a part of the Christian Church!
Today is no different. At Harlan Christian Church, we are a church that is rooted in our community. We gather for prayer and go out in our vocations to serve others. Pray and Go is designed to help motivate God’s people to PRAY and then to GO out into our community! Through Pray and Go, we have the huge goal of praying over every household possible in Harlan County.
As we step out and pray over individual homes, we will:
1. Praise God for the opportunity to pray for this home.
2. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide the people in this home.
3. Pray for the health, safety, and protection of the people in this home.
4. Pray for peace in the home and healthy, God-centered relationships.
5. Ask for opportunities to share Jesus with the people in this home.
6. Appeal to God’s will for the people in this home.
To do this, our Pray and Go teams go out to a specific area of Harlan County. They go to those households, say a brief prayer over that household, and then hang a door hanger letting the family know that they have been prayed over. Along with Harlan Christian Church’s contact information, the door hanger also lets them know that they can reach out to learn more about our church, ask for additional prayer and encourages them to visit with us. Those households have been lifted up before Christ and the families know that there is a church that cares about their community and about their family! We pray that there will be many great Gospel conversations that will be had between our team and our community through this opportunity!
